Barley malt syrup is made from sprouted barley, roasted and cooked down to a syrup with a malt-like flavour. It is about half as sweet as honey, probably similar to brown rice syrup.

Honey and maple syrup are the most similar in calorie content. In terms of sugar (and particular fructose) Maple syrup is healthier than Honey. Maple syrup tends to have a strong maple flavour. If you’re using it in place of sugar or corn syrup, expect to experience some changes in the flavour of your food. However, it works well to sweeten cereals, baked goods, granola, muesli and more.
Agave nectar (syrup) comes from the fluid inside the blue agave plant. It has about the same number of calories as honey, but is less healthy, because it consists of 75-90 percent fructose sugars. It is also a processed food which makes it not very healthy at all. Although it is a good way to replace the sweetness of honey in a dish or baking.
